Webb15 aug. 2010 · The new director of the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley, hopes to open the vast collection to the public for the first time. Phoebe Elizabeth Apperson Hearst (December 3, 1842 – April 13, 1919) was an American philanthropist, feminist and suffragist. Hearst was the founder of the University of California Museum of Anthropology, now called the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology, and the co-founder of the National Parent-Teacher Association.
